Chair

CHS has provided high quality affordable homes and support services across Cambridgeshire for almost 100 years. Much has changed through that time, but our commitment and dedication to our core values remains the same. We believe that the work we do enables people and communities to overcome challenges, take opportunities, and develop their ability to achieve their aspirations.

People are at the heart of our organisation: the 7,000 people living in our affordable homes, the 2,000 people who rely on our care, support and community investment services each year, and our 360 people who deliver our high-quality services.

Few organisations offer the breadth and diversity of services that we do: low-cost rented and shared ownership homes; residential and domiciliary care for older people; support for vulnerable people, and money, debt, and employment advice.

Our new Chair of the Board will play a central role in setting our strategic direction over the coming years and, working closely with other Board members and senior managers, evaluate progress against this. It’s an opportunity that will suit someone who already has experience of chairing a Board and who can offer proven leadership skills as well as excellent commercial and business awareness. You’ll have an assured understanding of how to identify and mitigate risk in business planning and ensure that our strategic plans are well-informed, pragmatic and achievable.

Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about great quality services and affordable homes and have practical experience of delivering social value to customers. It’s important that you have an up-to-date insight into current challenges and opportunities, and the partnership networks that can play a part in our work.

We firmly believe that a diversity of professional and personal experience enriches our team, so we encourage applications from diverse backgrounds who can bring their unique perspectives to our work.
