ema consultancy appoints new management consultant

One of the housing sector’s longest-standing recruitment, pay and HR specialists has appointed a former housing director to its team, following a period of strong growth.

Susan Richardson joins the ema consultancy team as managing consultant after more than 13 years at Parkway Green and then Wythenshawe Community Housing Group. A Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development, Susan most recently held the role of Executive Director before joining ema consultancy.

Susan brings to the team more than 20 years’ experience in the housing sector, including specialist expertise in strategic human resource management, governance, communications performance improvement and project management. She also has received training from the ICSA, The Chartered Governance Institute, boosting ema’s board and governance expertise further.

One of her first projects has seen her develop a merger best practice HR guide to support housing clients through this change. The code, to be launched later this year, includes case studies and interviews with key chief executives who have overseen merger successes in recent years.

Susan, who has one son who works in the Netherlands in digital recruitment, said: “I’m excited to join ema consultancy at a time of dynamic change. I’d worked with the ema consultancy team in my previous role and had always been impressed by their professionalism and performance. Their customer centric approach very much resonated with me.

“I bring to the team a strong background in supporting clients through change, applying continuous improvement frameworks, helping organisations to shape their structure and managing people and communications during transformation and merger. What drives me is seeing projects through to successful completion and how engagement can improve culture and then ultimately the customer experience.

“With a new brand, a campaign to improve board diversity, a project examining the gap between being a director and a first chief executive role and our merger code, it’s a busy and vibrant time to be here.”

Anne Elliott, ema consultancy managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Susan to the team. She brings with her a wealth of skills in some of our core areas of governance, pay and performance and HR. She has already made an impact, helping to drive forward best practice in HR merger management and also securing work in and outside of the housing sector.

“As we approach our 14th birthday and launch our new brand, we continue to grow and look for fresh ways to help clients find, attract and retain talent. Susan’s appointment is key to that. Thank you to our clients who have supported us for that time.”
