Independent Chair - Blueprint Based in Nottingham

Blueprint is a multi-award winning developer specialising in the development of sustainable homes and sustainable workspaces. Placemaking, community and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do. With two shareholders – Nottingham City Council and PfP Capital – and a unique management and delivery relationship with Igloo Regeneration, our thoughtful projects make better places, and places better. Our Board comprises four Directors (two appointed by each of the shareholders) and holds executive responsibility for the company’s activities. Working closely with fellow Directors, the CEO and stakeholders, our new Independent Chair will be accountable for leading the Board, and for three key elements of our governance.

First, will actively support the promotion of Blueprint’s work, achievements and approach, enabling us to identify, secure and maximise investment opportunities that advance our mission. Second, you will manage and lead the Board’s work, ensuring that agendas, papers, discussions and decisions are all undertaken to the highest standards (at present, the Board meets between 4-6 times per year). You’ll ensure that any and all statutory filings are completed; in addition to the annual accounts, you will also receive reports from auditors and other professional advisors, and will communicate these to the Board in a transparent and timely fashion. Third, we want to appoint someone who is so inspired by the potential for Blueprint that they are always looking for opportunities to have a greater impact. So we expect you to be an active and engaged advocate and ambassador for our work, influencing stakeholders, partners and all those who can be part of our future.

Candidates must have impressive experience of non-executive leadership in a comparable context, with a nuanced grasp of how to shape, oversee and monitor a clear strategy for success against objectives. A comprehensive understanding of property investment, development and regeneration – and of public-private partnerships. A skilled Chair, with good financial skills, high-level communication, influencing and negotiation abilities, you will understand the importance of playing a strong, visible role that builds confidence and assurance in our plans. But we want more than simple competence and professionalism – you will be distinguished by your evident and inspiring passion for our ambition, and your readiness to go above and beyond in delivering it.
