Board Member

Community Housing is a community-based housing association providing 6,000 homes predominantly in the Kidderminster / Wyre Forest area. Our aim is “to provide affordable, quality homes and deliver great services in safe communities”.

We have an ambition to become a great landlord. We are not there yet, and we know we must work hard to get there. We are looking for Board Members with the right skills and experience to help us get there. We have an exciting Corporate Plan that sets ambitious targets around the following themes

  • Looking Out for Customers
  • Looking after Homes and Neighbourhoods
  • Looking Out for Colleagues
  • Looking after our Company

Our Board Members play a central role in overseeing our governance and ensuring that as we pursue our ambitions, and we don’t underestimate important issues or fall foul of expectations,
whether they are from our customers, our regulator, funding bodies and other important stakeholders.

We at Community Housing are striving to improve diversity of thought and experience throughout the organisation, it is at the top of our agenda. We have a programme of work focusing on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. We recognise that we need to improve diversity (in its broadest sense but particularly BAME) on the Board, along with the right skills and experience to be effective in providing oversight to the business and drive our
agenda forwards.

We are looking for candidates who have an interest, but not necessarily experience in, social housing and based on our assessment of current and future skills gaps, we particularly
encourage applications from candidates with expertise in one of the following disciplines.

  • Digital transformation, particularly customer engagement and / or digital marketing
  • Change Management and Project Delivery
  • Cyber Security
  • Governance/Internal Audit/Risk Management,
  • Legal

As part of our quest to become more representative of our communities, we particularly encourage applications from BAME candidates. We want to attract a wide range of applicants, so even if you do not obviously fit the above profile, if you are interested in our work, we will be very pleased to consider you.
