Board Chair

Join us as Chair of our Board

We’ve been providing safe and happy homes in Bridgend for the last 20 years. We’re an integral part of our local community and play a pivotal role in the ongoing regeneration and prosperity of Bridgend and South Wales.

We provide more than 6,000 secure and affordable homes, and have a portfolio of leasehold flats, garages and commercial properties. Our 20th birthday year has also marked the imminent launch of our new repairs and maintenance company, Llanw.

Our overarching purpose is to provide sustainable homes and places where people feel safe and happy, and to play a part in building a better Bridgend and Wales.

Our Board plays an important role in ensuring that the right decisions are made to ensure we are achieving our purpose. Board members have ultimate authority and accountability for the running of the organisation for the benefit of our customers, communities and colleagues, providing support and constructive challenge to the leadership team to achieve our objectives.

Now at the end of his tenure, our current Chair of the Board Anthony Whittaker, is preparing to step down.

As such, we are seeking a new Chair that will join us and play a central strategic leadership role in achieving our vision and ensuring that our values guide and define how we work. That means we will value people, think differently, and have the courage to see things through.

This is an opportunity that will suit a proven strategic leader, who can clearly define organisational objectives and then work effectively with us and partners to see these translated into delivery on the ground. You’ll be passionate about communities, dedicated to putting customers at the heart of what we do, and committed to reducing our environmental impact as a business.

It’s not essential that you have direct experience within the housing sector – what’s more important is your understanding of the role of Chair and your ability to fulfil it. You’ll have an informed understanding of the importance of good governance and the principles that define it, and you’ll be prepared to support and constructively challenge colleagues, creating space for different perspectives and expertise to inform how we work.
