Chair

Salix Homes owns and manages over 8,000 homes in Salford, which comprises a real mix of properties including 20 tower blocks, large housing estates as well as independent living schemes for the over 55s. We are about much more than providing homes, we deliver services and provide support to help our customers to thrive.

We employ more than 300 people in a huge range of roles from repairs operatives, caretakers and estate management officers out in our communities, to customer service advisors and backoffice teams who help ensure the smooth running of the organisation.

Our current Chair, Jim Battle, reaches the end of his term of office in September 2024 and Salix Homes is planning carefully to appoint a Chair Designate in the early summer of 2024, to ensure an effective handover and transition in this pivotal role.

Salix Homes will experience significant changes in senior leadership in 2024/25, including the change in Board Chair, followed by the appointment of a new Chief Executive and two new members of the Board. We are therefore looking for an individual who has values aligned with our own – ‘ Trustworthy, Successful and Inclusive’, a strong commitment to the social housing sector and the communities we serve, and the ability to lead the organisation effectively and sensitively through change.
